Sreelakshmi SHG was formed on 05/05/2002 in the 2nd ward of Pindimana Grama Panchayath in Kothamangalam Block Panchayath. This Group consists of 10members From BPL families. They conduct their group meeting in every week without fail and collected thrift and deposited in their Bank Account with Union Bank Of India, Muthankuzhy Branch The First grading of this group has been conducted on 11/08/05 and sanctioned Revolving Fund of Rs.10000/-as Government assistance and Rs.15000/-as cash credit from the bank. Then they started various activities like goat rearing, soap making, and jasmine cultivation. Out of this jasmine cultivation and soap making are more profitable to them.
After the 2nd grading on 01/08/2006 they are selected for more financial assistance under SGSY scheme. Now they have got loan for Rs.250000/-with subsidy of Rs.62750/-.Five members of this Group has engaged in Jasmine cultivation and the others in the production of soap and soap products. More than 2500 jasmine plants were cultivated. About eight kilograms of jasmine buds were obtained in a week. The members spent an average of two hours per day for the cultivation .They sold the buds at a co-operative store at Kothamangalam. The President of the SHG Smt Dolly James said that the jasmine cultivation is very attractive and daily income generating programme. They are planning for the cultivation of the medicinal plant “Arali”
The remaining Five members engaged in the production soap products such as toilet soap, washing soap, detergent and fabric whitener etc. The members themselves marketing their products by door to door supply. They are now ready to impart training to other interested groups and individuals.
