Aiswarya Self Help Group is functioning in Kaitharam in Kottuvally Grama Panchayat including in Paravur Block area in Ernakulam District. Its formation was by a family meet of the natives of that place on 2.6.2001. The group was formed of a continues counseling for a few days. An account was opened in State Bank of India, Cheriyappilly Branch in the name of the group and each members deposited Rs.10/- each on week.
The first grading of the S.H.Group conducted on 14.1.12003. A Revolving Fund of Rs.25,000/- has sanctioned to the group. In this Rs.10,000/- was subsidy amount and Rs.15,000/- was bank loan. A Women’s hotel was started inside the Block Office Compound and a provision shop was started in the residence of one group member.
Hotel was progressive and the provision shop failed and as a lesson the provision shop stopped and the women hotel remained in existence with sale of curry powders in a small scale. The office staff and elected members and outsiders depended this hotel and this turned as a main economical source. By the by catering orders are received from various functions. The group did’nt accept the SGSY financial loan fear of burden of huge amount. Catering was increased and the group came in aware of no existence only with the Revolving Fund, they were advised friendly to accept loan to enlarge the programme by the Block Officials. In this ground 2nd grading was done and SGSY assistance sanctioned on the success of grading.
The programmes was started sanctioning financial assistance in the name of 10 members of this unit during the financial year 2005-06. The loan was given for catering and curry powder business. Rs.62,500/- was subsidy and Rs.1,87,500/- was loan amount. Vessels and furniture for catering has been purchased. Now necessary working capital is also available. Now Loan insalment is refunding without fail.
Now the unit is goes well in a building inside the Block office compound. Catering does well in a medium rate for marriage and other functions and supplying of curry powders at the same time.
Arise of the unit stands as model by hard work from nothing. Now a days in the case of necessary of food items in Kaitharam surroundings, the Aiwarya SHG is considered as first one. They are grown very familiar to this place.
