Sowbhagya SHG Parakkadavu Block Panchayath, Ernakulam Dist,

Puthanvelikkara Grama Panchayat under Parakkadavu Block is blessed by the soft touch of the river Periyar, which is referred as 'Poorna' in Puranas.
Being embraced by the Subways of river Periyar in three directions, Puthenvelikara Grama Panchayath is blessed by the most fertile soil.
In this village, 10 socially backward women formed a SH Group in June 2001 and named as 'Sowbhagya SHG'. One SC woman and nine general category women are the members of ''Soubhagya SHG'' Production of curry powder, sale of grocery items were the earliest activities. Thus, when they got Rs. 10000/- as revolving fund, and 15000/- as loan unit became well settled.
In March 2005 this unit received Rs. 298000/- (220000/- as loan and 78000/- as subsidy) as financial assistance through Puthenvelikkara branch of Catholic Syrian Bank. This money used to start cultivation of jasmine which are dwarf in nature. 150 pots were used by each member to cultivate jasmine. Besides this they cultivated in prepared fields also.
When six months jasmine plants to form fragrant buds and thus caused to form colourful ambitions in minds of members also. Each member is receiving 300 gm jasmine in average condition. They got Rs. 100/- per kilo from Mangalya Society, North Paravur. In season, they got Rs. 350/- per Kg as cost. Another plants as Rose, Thulasi etc. have been planted by them. They receive a good amount as income after montly retrun payment of loan. Cultivation of fragrant jasmine flower helps to form the life of Soubhagya SHG members with fragrance. Their family members also became healthy and happiest.
