Kunnissery is a village, 5 km away from Nedumbassery International Airport. Women in this village who were very poor and unemployed, grouped together to form SHG group in August 1999. In the beginning 10 members were ther. Group was named as 'Anaswara' SHG. Presently, 18 members (Among this, SC-2), Christian - 2, Muslim - 14) are there.
They started to save Rs. 10/- through small saving scheme. After six months. They received an amount of Rs. 10,000/- as revolving refund 15,000 as loan. ''Pappad Production Unit’’ and the same is now on going.
In March 2006 from Athani Union Bank, a loan was sanctioned for this Unit as per the scheme of SGSY. The loan amount was Rs. 2,75,000/- with the subsidy.
Of Rs. 75,000/- By utilizing this loan amount they started a production unit of detergent Powder, Phenoil, squash and fruit jam etc. Pappad, detergent Powder, Phenoil have good demand. So they have got a good amount as earning after monthly payment of loan amount.
Also this society provided emergency loan for unit members in necessary circumstances like marriage, medical aid and demise etc from thrift deposit.
Earning of women make their life more comfortable and satisfactory. Which was depending meagre earning of male family member earlier. Thus women became capable to spend money for nutrition food and education of their children.
